Since the times of Run DMC , Tupac , Biggie Smalls , and Krs1 have passed many people are starting to doubt HipHop as a whole and they claim it is ” dead ” . Instead of trying to “revive” HipHop some artists ( mostly newyork rappers ) are complaing , criticizing HipHop artists but doing nothing to help the situation. Southern HipHop artists on the other hand are happy with where HipHop is Kia Shine, an artist from Memphis, Tennessee even went as far to say “HipHop ain’t dead it lives in the south” in his new single W.O.W.
“ HipHop is dead , it means nothing now we get that you’re rich , get women ,and have cars , what else is there to HipHop ? ” Buy you a drank ” ? ” Chicken Noodle Soup ” ? ” Crank That Soulja Boy ” ? are you kidding ? where’s the HipHop ? ” , commented Chardeline Vigne ( hehe my sister ) .
“Everybody sound the same, commercialize the game Reminiscin’ when it wasn’t all business They forgot where it started” when asked what she thought of this line from Nas’ song HipHop is dead freshman Samiya Thurston said
“That is definatly not true , yes 50 cent and some other ( artists ) talk about the same thing : sex , money , cars , and girls ; but what about people like Kanye West , Common , Talib Kweli , Mos Def and all those other ( artists) who dont talk about those things and actually have something good to say , you cant say HipHop is dead because of a few artists.”
The times have changed and HipHop has too. Artists like 50 cent , Hurricane Chris , and Soulja Boy are very commercialized ( is that a word ?? ) but thats what people are listening to and what people like . Artists like Kanye West , Nas , Common , and Mos Def stay true to themselves and make amazing music. So HipHop is dead ? Is an exaggeration.
” If anything , HipHop is better , there is more feel good music and most artists’ have a variety of both ” Commercial HipHop ” and ” Real Hiphop ” on their albums . HipHop can’t be “dead” and probally will never “die” either you’re living in the wrong place or just don’t take the time to really listen, and when everything else fails theres always mixtapes.” Stated freshman Paige Martinez .
I realllyyyy don’t like it that much . I know what I want to say but cant get it out in words . Oh man. But I didn’t want a “F” =( I trieddd .
