Bright colored restaurant style booths will replace the cafeteria tables and other new furniture will be installed over the break.

Now I’ll be able to select only the vegetarian items I want. It is good to see that the cafeteria staff being sensitive to the needs of all students.

To aid senior Sarah Warner and freshman Brent Warner MHS is organizing a fund-raising carnival and dance as a service project. The Warner family went out to dinner last week and returned to find fire fighters battling the blaze, no one was injured but they lost their house and all their belongings.

“They lost everything – clothes, books, appliances, and furniture! Insurance will only cover so much. We need to raise money so they can get back to some degree of normal life”, Stated Julia Jensen, a friend of Sarah and benefit organizer.

The carnival and dance is scheduled for the second Saturday of next month. The carnival will be from 6-10 P.M. in the cafeteria and the dance will be from 8:30-11:30 P.M. in the gym. No money is required to get in but donations are being taken at the door.

The carnival games will include basketball shoot, baseball throw, dunk tank, dart game, and more, games cost 25 cents each. The game booths were donated by Lions Club, and the game prizes were donated by K-Mart, Wal-mart, McDonalds, Hardee’s, and other merchants. Funds raised will be given to Sarah and Brent.

“We wanted to do something to help them get back to everyday life, I know they would do the same for their friends”, Said Andy Chambers, friend of Brent and co-organizer with Julia.

Hip Hop :]

February 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Since the times of Run DMC , Tupac , Biggie Smalls , and Krs1 have passed many people are starting to doubt HipHop as a whole and they claim it is ” dead ” . Instead of trying to “revive” HipHop  some artists ( mostly newyork rappers ) are complaing , criticizing HipHop artists but doing nothing to help the situation. Southern HipHop artists on the other hand are happy with where HipHop is Kia Shine, an artist from Memphis, Tennessee even went as far to say “HipHop ain’t dead it lives in the south” in his new single W.O.W.

“  HipHop is dead , it means nothing now we get that you’re rich , get women ,and have cars , what else is there to HipHop ? ” Buy you a drank ” ? ” Chicken Noodle Soup ” ? ” Crank That Soulja Boy ” ? are you kidding ? where’s the HipHop ? ” , commented Chardeline Vigne ( hehe my sister ) .

“Everybody sound the same, commercialize the game Reminiscin’ when it wasn’t all business They forgot where it started” when asked what she thought of this line from Nas’ song HipHop is dead freshman Samiya Thurston said
“That is definatly not true , yes 50 cent and some other ( artists ) talk about the same thing : sex , money , cars , and girls ; but what about people like Kanye West , Common , Talib Kweli , Mos Def and all those other ( artists) who dont talk about those things and actually have something good to say , you cant say HipHop is dead because of a few artists.”

The times have changed and HipHop has too. Artists like 50 cent , Hurricane Chris , and Soulja Boy are very commercialized ( is that a word ?? ) but thats what people are listening to and what people like . Artists like Kanye West , Nas , Common , and Mos Def stay true to themselves and make amazing music. So HipHop is dead ? Is an exaggeration.

” If anything , HipHop is better , there is more feel good music and most artists’ have a variety of both ” Commercial HipHop ” and ” Real Hiphop ” on their albums . HipHop can’t be “dead” and probally will never “die” either you’re living in the wrong place or just don’t take the time to really listen, and when everything else fails theres always mixtapes.” Stated freshman Paige Martinez .

I realllyyyy don’t like it that much . I know what I want to say but cant get it out in words . Oh man. But I didn’t want a “F” =( I trieddd .

#1 – is hiphop really  dead ?
I’d interview people into hiphop [ which won't be hard because almost every other person at beach is into hiphop on some level ] .
I personally don’t think hiphop is ‘dead’ it’s less  shooting and drugs and gangs and stuff and more feel good music and things you can dance to, but mixtapes are full of that stuff so it’s definatly not dead, just less violent [ i would explain it better obviously ]

#2
Lunch is packed into a small space =[
Ohk . So now lunch is forced to stay only by the old buildings and fitting the WHOLE student body in that space is crazy. People can't walk around like  they used to , It's impossible to find somewhere to sit ; the lunch room is packed [ and they have bad music playing in there anyways =O ] so there isn’t good. BASICALLY ? we should be able to eat lunch AT LEAST in between the new/old office and the new 3 building.
